Hello everyone!
I know I've been absent from this blog... but I've been really busy doing all my exams, but I hope to resume writing when I finally finish them!
I apologize for this, and I hope to get to you soon!
Cheers!

Item #5 - a postcard from Germany
I got this postcard from my mail box on Friday.
There's not much to say about it besides the obvious... even so, its a postcard non-the-less...
It came written in German. I don't really speak German, but I really want to learn. German and Danish. I'm fascinated with both languages. I tried to learn them by myself when I had the time, and I was happy to see that I was able to understand what was written on this postcard! :)
Item #4 - a postcard from Japan
I'm getting a bit behind schedule on what I really wanted to do with this blog... my goal was to write about the things I discovered on the day "of the discovery". The thing is, I'm right on the middle of the exams time at the university, so time is not much right now... anyway... lets move on...
If I remember right, Thursday I got my first card from Japan!!! I was amazed! Everything on it screams Japan... really...
Well, maybe not the front so much, but especially the stamps... And they are beautiful!!! Yep, they are!!! I was so happy to receive this postcard!!!
I'm not really a fan of Hello Kitty. Never the less, I really like these stamps.
This postcard is from Osaka. More precisely, from the Tsutenkaku Tower (I hope it is spelled right). Accordingly to the Wikipedia, Tsutenkaku means Tower Reaching Heaven. It has a total height of 103m!!!
The thing I like the most with postcards, is to have them on my hands. Flip them over and over again between the front image and the back. Seeing them over and over again, and this postcard really makes me want to do that. :)

Item #3 - 20 cents from Luxembourg (2010)
Friday, a friend of mine just came to me and showed me a 20 cents coin from Luxembourg. It dated from this year, 2010, so of course it wasn't a part from the coin collection made at my home (yes... it is a family collection, once we all do a common effort on finding strange coins). Apparently she went to buy coffee and said to the lady at the Math Department's bar that she would come back and give her 20 cents so she could keep the Luxembourg coin for me!!! Thank you so much! Well... I gave her 20 cents in exchange for the coin and she returned to the bar.
If you had no idea of how does a Luxembourg 20 cents coin looks like, here's a picture of one (this one is from 2002, but it doesn't really matter):
So I think that's all... I'll keep looking for new coins! :)

Item #2 - a postcard from China
Yesterday I arrived home and yes... I had one more postcard inside my mailbox!!!
This time it was from China, more precisely from Shanghai!
This time it was from China, more precisely from Shanghai!
This is not a landscape, but a painting. I love drawings and cartoons... I actually have an account on DeviantART, a site that lets you upload works of art of your own. I love to search there for new things... My works are more about photography, because I really can't draw...
Well, back to the postcard... This is an amazing picture and the postcard has some great stamps... I love stamps! And I'm remembering now that I didn't said that on my intro post... How could I forget??? Never mind... I say it here... I love stamps and I have the luck to live in a country where most of the stamps are really beautiful. I collect stamps as well, so every time I receive a postcard with a beautiful stamp it really make my day! Especially if I like the postcard as well! So, this was undoubtedly one of those postcards... :) Thank you for sending me such great postcards! :)
I took some photos of the stamps so you can see them... they are not the normal stamp size, they are bigger! :) The photos are not the best, but I'm a bit lazy, so I think I'll scan them later...

Item #1 - a postcard from Greece
Well, starting my random posts about things I keep...
During this last week I found on my mailbox this postcard from Greece:
I find it really beautiful! It shows the Acropolis in Athens!!! And the big surprise was: it was wrote in Portuguese!!! I found it really amazing!
It was my first postcard from Greece! I've never been there, but I hope to someday visit the country... it seems a really wonderful one! And all the history it represents... I've been to many places, but Greece is not one of them... and it is really great, seeing things from places you've wondered how they are and being able to receive information about them from people that are really there... :)

Item #0 - Introduction
Hello!
Welcome to My Little Box of Random Items.
As I really like to collect little things I thought of making a blog about it... I don't think this will be of any interest to the general public, but at least it will take my mind of my study for sometime and I can share to the world the latest elements of my collections.
For me it will also be as a list of all the things I have collected so far, so, if you are interested in little items and collectibles maybe you will like my blog...
Well, what objects do I keep and collect after all?
Currently I'm part of a project called Postcrossing. It's a site of postcard exchange. As I really love postcards I will keep some updates here of what postcards are arriving on my mailbox.
I collect coins as well, especially euro coins, once they differ accordingly to the country they are from, so I'll also keep updates on my latest findings on the change of my morning coffee, or my lunch... or the coin that some friend of mine found and gave me... you know, that sort of thing...
Over the time I tried to collect several things as pencils, calendars... but those didn't really work... I still collect them sometimes... but my main focus are postcards and coins...
Of course I can also post about some isolated items I found and want to keep... but for now, lets see how this goes...
I hope you like this blog! :)
Take care!
Joana
